TT # 9

The ladies at T13 have challenged us to write 13 things that we like about ourself, because we do spend more time talking about the things we don't like. So it would be nice to focus on the positives, rather than the negatives.

So ... here are .....

Thirteen Things That I Like About Myself

1. I like the fact that I taught myself how to knit from a book and watching a video. I take great pride in my knitting, and that pride is greater when I know that I am the one who taught myself.

2. I like that I have a pretty decent singing voice. Not operatic, mind you. But fairly decent, and ok to listen to.

3. I like that I get more and more computer savvy every day. I am trying to learn some HTML, and I think I am doing an ok job with it. Now, don't ask me to design a blog or website. Not up to THAT much coding.

4. I like the fact that I followed through with cloth diapering my last child. I didn't think that I would have the fortitude to see it through, but I did. And I am so glad that I did. I loved every minute of it. I love it when I can surprise myself like that.

5. I like my sense of humor and quick wit. I like that I can (sometimes) come up with a crack, and I think my timing is pretty good. I won't be doing stand up any time too soon... I am not the next female Dane Cook or Ron White.

6. I like how I can multi-task. I love to be busy, to the point of appearing to be insanely busy. I love how I have been able to juggle a lot of balls in the air. I don't like it when those balls drop to the ground, of course.

7. I like that I can dye yarn. A lot of people are amazed that I can do this, and I love to admit that the item I am knitting is using my yarn.

8. I like that I have a law degree, and that I am using it. I decided not to practice when I was in law school, and I am glad that I stuck to my guns on that decision.

9. I like my vocabulary. I don't have a large one, but what I do have ... some words I use can cause some to scratch their heads.

10. I like the friends I have. I know that isn't something directly about me, but it is. I like that the friends I have seek me out, and me them. I like spending time with them, and they are all people that I need to surround myself with.

11. I like that I have found Thursday 13. I am so glad I made the decision to try it out, and this is my ninth week doing so.

12. I like, no, I LOVE my blog. It is very me.

13. I like that my reputation precedes me in some settings.

So ... what are 13 things that you like about yourself? Dare ya!

That is a really great list. Now I'm wishing I had done mine like this! I think this a good exercise - looking at what's right in ourselves. Very good.

Thanks for dropping by my site too. I've really enjoyed reading your blog. Very entertaining and very thoughtful.

Cloth diapering? Wow. That's not something I would ever try...I simply do NOT like laundry. I'm glad you were able to follow through with it!

Multi-tasking is a great trait! So many people are unable to do this.

Wow, #1 is great! Anyone who can do that impresses me so much. I had a friend try to teach me to knit and all we both discovered is that I need three hands and that I'm all thumbs. ;) Great list!

My TT is up, too:

You ARE very talented and I didn't know someone could learn to knit from a video. I feel inspired by that. I might try! (I used to knit as a kid)

You do have a very pretty blog. I like how there is an attitude of "lifelong learning" in this list. I think that is important in life...who wants to hang out with a know it all? ha ha

I am on week #5 of Thursday Thirteen and I agree it is a very rewarding activity.

Cheers

Pixieprincessmom ... from a book called "I Can't Believe I Taught Myself How to Knit" or something like that. They have them at Wal Mart, Michaels, not sure about Hobby Lobby and Joanns. It is a kit ... needles, book, stitch counter. Good package for less than $ 12. Get yourself some cheap acrylic yarn, and have at it !

Great list! I love this, love getting to know more about everyone.

That's so cool that you taught yourself to knit. I keep think I might like to learn, but I don't think I could teach myself. And that you dye your own yarn, that's too cool!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by my T13 earlier :)

1. I taught myself how to hook and make rugs (went for lessons after years)

2. I've a rotten singing voice but that doesn't stop me

3. I'm working on the computer savvy part of myself too

4. Cloth diapering was my thing too.

5. I love to laugh and make others laugh.

6. Always busy too!

7. I dye wool for my rugs.

8. no degrees here...except in that school of hard knocks

9. I love words! And that's pretty good for someone who grew up with dyslexia (reading, even though it took me forever to get through a book helped me grow out of it for the most part)

10. Friends are special blessings

11. I think I would have been up to about 7 or 8 if I hadn't deleted my blog by mistake (I know!). This week's is my first since being back.

12. I LOVE my blog too.

13. reputation is important!

I enjoyed reading about you! I cloth diapered my first kiddo using a diaper service. He had no skin rashes at ALL. The second one, who had only disposables, had lots of rashes on his little bum. Cloth is the way to go! Congrats!

I love to knit (and taught myself from a book, too). Last year, I moved from scarves to sweaters and felted purses. LOVE IT!

As for dying yarn? I'm so jealous! I would love to learn how to do that successfully. Perhaps you have a blog post on it?

Great TT!
